IN GOVERNMENT INTELLIGENCE, US DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE ACQUIRES LTU TECHNOLOGIES’ IMAGE ANALYSIS AND CLASSIFICATION SOFTWARE
Paris and Washington DC – June 12, 2006 - The advanced computer lab of the US Department of Defense has procured LTU Technologies’ image analysis and classification software for the testing and development of innovative tools for forensic media analysis.
“The Department of Defense Cyber Crimes Center (DC3) is the DOD’s center of excellence for investigating computer-related evidence and crimes in all defense contexts. This includes intelligence, terrorism, criminal and fraud investigations; “said P. Kevin Smith, VP Sales North America for LTU.
“Selection of LTU resulted from the careful evaluation of several image technologies. For us, this award is not only a vote of confidence and an important first opportunity to work with this prestigious organization, but also we think that DC3 is an ideal, rigorous test environment for our most recent technologies”.
“While DC3’s specific activities are confidential, it is public knowledge that photographs, videos, and all types of image data are increasingly the subject of investigations. LTU is recognized for its advanced expertise in high-volume image and video classification and analysis. We can say publicly that this project’s activities target the development and test of an advanced prototype for analyzing high volumes of images and accelerating the investigation of forensic media. “
For the DC3 project, LTU will be providing its Image-Seeker, Image-Filter, and LTU Video modules, which share a common image analysis platform that includes comparison and classification features developed for LTU’s clients in law enforcement and intelligence.
“DC3 supports all of the criminal investigative organizations of the armed forces and other defense and intelligence agencies of the US government. We know that DC3 activities will certainly put our technologies to the test, and we stand ready to provide all of our most advanced solutions and our highest levels of expertise in support of DC3’s ambitious objectives,” said Smith.
