LTU technologies Introduces Image Search and Recognition Solutions to Litigation Professionals at the Computer Forensics Show

2.4.2008 – Press Release

LTU to demonstrate how advanced image search and recognition solutions facilitate corporate forensic investigations involving copyright infringement of visual assets

LTU Technologies, the global leader in image search and recognition solutions, announced today its participation at the inaugural Computer Forensics Show on February 4 – 6, 2008 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.

In session L15, on Wednesday, February 6, at 1:00pm EST Alexandre Winter, LTU Technologies CEO and co-founder, and P. Kevin Smith, senior vice president worldwide sales for LTU, will present Finding Evidence and Clues Using Pixels to an audience of litigation, accounting and IT professionals. The presentation will detail how image search and recognition solutions can be harnessed to identify the pixel content of images and videos in computer forensic examinations – thus uncovering evidence that otherwise would have been very challenging for investigators to identify.

More specifically, LTU will demonstrate the ways in which pixel-based identification can be leveraged to enhance image search in sectors as diverse as law enforcement, intellectual property infringement, and enterprise search.

LTU’s core technology indexes individual pixels of an image to create a digital signature, or “image DNA,” that represents the key visual features of the image. This technology makes it possible to effectively analyze the pixel content of various types of digital content (photographic images, videos, or others) involved in forensic investigations. This approach has proven to be a successful compliment to the traditional use of searching for images using keyword tags and hash code identifiers. Likewise, LTU is packaged for effective use whether an investigation is being conducted on an individual hard drive or over a network.

“We are excited about the opportunity to speak at the Computer Forensics Show – it’s a great opportunity for us to introduce LTU to organizations that may not yet realize the benefits of this technology,” said Alexandre Winter, CEO and cofounder of LTU Technologies. “Nearly every industry confronts problems and opportunities presented by image data, from Hollywood and television, to law enforcement and intelligence, to legal and IT – and nearly every company faces risks from within as a result of inadequate management of visual assets. LTU’s continued development of advanced image search and recognition solutions demonstrates our commitment to fulfill the need in the global marketplace to help fight crime, protect proprietary content and keep inappropriate material off enterprise networks.”

“Images are quickly becoming one of the prevailing forms of evidence in legal cases throughout the world,” said P. Kevin Smith, senior vice president worldwide sales for LTU. “Whether it is child pornography, counterfeiting, or copyright infringement, content must be identified. Without cutting-edge solutions for identifying, matching and filtering this evidence in a systematic, accurate and efficient way, we are exposed to the risk of these crimes going unsolved and unpunished.”

At the show, LTU will highlight its flagship image search and recognition products, Image-Seeker and Image-Seeker for EnCase® (ISE). Image-Seeker is a comprehensive search and retrieval software for visual assets and Image-Seeker for EnCase® is a trusted plug-in, enhancing image analysis capabilities within Guidance Software’s EnCase®. EnCase® continues to be an industry-standard computer forensics tool with leading global clients throughout law enforcement, government, corporate, legal and enterprise investigators. Not only does ISE enhance image classification functionality, it also allows users to detect duplicate and modified versions of reference images.
